The title says it all. A lot of what I’m doing with these goals and reports hasn’t turned into a habit yet. I missed a weekly report, six daily reports and several days of goals. Not quite the progress to put on display, but it’s here. These reports are not to show how good I am, they’re a means for me to report back to myself and to you on how I am doing with these goals.
It’s a pitfall to forge results when you’re holding yourself accountable in public (like I’m doing now), but that would be fooling everybody including yourself. Improvement doesn’t come from faked reports, improvement comes from holding yourself brutally accountable and acting on it.
Progress report on goals
Goal 1: Get rid of 100 things
Goal 2: Strength training everyday
Goal 3: Make music

I’m still behind on all the goals, and only the 100 things goal can still reach completion. But because of the nature of goals 2 and 3 (counting the successful and unsuccessful days), just one day in the red renders the 100% mark unreachable.
I have to say that the 100 things goal is very helpful for me. Besides getting rid of a lot of stuff, I also got rid of a lot of other distractions. That said, I still got 35 things to go and time is running out. I did manage to collect a total of €94 by selling some stuff.
I did not perform well on the strength goal. I’ve had quite some busy days in the past week, that left me drained from energy. Some days I simply didn’t want to do any exercises, and other days I just forgot. Hardly a habit yet. I’m going to define a basic set of exercises, that I have to do no matter what. It needs to be a simple set, so there’s no excuse for not doing it.
The music goal has also not been a complete success. I played on some days and I’m feeling some progress in playing. There’s still a major learning curve to be conquered, but I’m enjoying it and that was the goal.

Hey Lode,
Be proud of what you actually have accomplished…I’m proud of you. Progress, not perfection. Posting your daily progress inspired me to set my own goal. I’m now on Day 13 of my 30 Notes in 30 Days Project. I haven’t done it perfectly, but I’ve gotten in touch with many people I care about, and that feels great. After a busy weekend, I have to write 3 notes tonight to catch up, but it’s do-able. Thanks for the inspiration, and keep working on the things you want to accomplish. Remember that the great mosaics of St Peters are made of teeny tiny pieces of marble.
Take good care,
Jane
Hi Jane,
I am proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. If I look at the progress bars for goals 2 and 3, I really see progress. Both of them were neglected for too long, and I am spending time on both now.
I love it that these reports inspired you to start your own project. 30 notes in 30 days, what an awesome project! And such a good way to reconnect to people. I might just … euhm … borrow that goal for one of my future six week goals.
Good for you for making progress, learning from your efforts and maintaining your accountability. As Jane says, it’s inspiring.
I’m glad you find inspiration in my progress reports, Thekla. It’s really nice to get such supportive comments on my efforts. Thank you!
I’d be happy for you to borrow the goal….it’s really rewarding! Having a bit of structure from the beginning has helped me tremendously. I included my guidelines in the post. http://www.teenytinypieces.com/2010/03/page/2/
Take good care!
