Review week 38; habits, blog and GTD

On Sundays I’m looking back on the past week. How did my habit change go? How did my blog do? And how am I keeping up with my GTD system?

Progress on habit change
This week our house was ruled by the flu. It looked like I was going to escape it, but it got me on Friday :( . Not a great week to get physically active and start running or do weight lifting. I did some homework on training schedules for running, so there’s a little progress towards that half a marathon in October 2008.

Blog performance
Again a slow week in traffic. I haven’t done a lot of promotion the last three weeks, I guess it shows in the visitor numbers. But the subscriber count is still climbing, which is my favorite indicator among all those available in blog statistics. A warm welcome to 3 new subscribers to the feed, thanks for joining us!

Statistics week 38
Average RSS subscribers: 263 +3
Average daily visitors: 93 -19
Technorati Authority: 118 +25

Technorati is going great again. The Personal Development Bloggers list is still finding its way to a lot of sites.

Last week I told you I was working on a collaborative little project with other blogs. Well everything is set and done, so check this site on Tuesday September 25. I’m excited about it!

I have been playing around with the Blogrush widget this week. It hasn’t brought me any visitors yet, but I’ll keep it around for a while to see how it develops. For Blogrush the titles of the posts need to be sharp and short, and especially the titles on Wednesdays, when I write about the NLP presuppositions are not short and sharp :) But they serve a purpose, so I’m not changing it. Anyway, I’m plugging my affiliate link to Blog Rush again, since traffic in the referral network is a major factor in the success of this tool. I already have 1 referral, thank you for using my link! If you’re interested in the signing up, I appreciate it when you use my link.

Getting Things Done – weekly review
I realized this week that I’m procrastinating the work that needs to be done to get the system back up. I get a lot of things done, don’t get me wrong. It’s the work on the system that I keep postponing.

It has to do with the fact that I experienced some downsides with the system setup I had. And I haven’t solved these yet, and this is holding me back from starting up again. For instance, having both a home system and a work system didn’t work for me very well. But having it both in the same system wasn’t great as well, but that may also have to do with the visibility of the vast amount of next actions that I need to do.

And that was a discouraging factor. Looking at the list with things that needed to be done, discouraged me at times. Thinking about it now, what discouraged me the most where things I wasn’t convinced about where important, but still had to be done. I need to use the Eisenhower Matrix better to say no to stuff that’s not important. Simplify and use the Eisenhower Matrix, that will get my next action list filled with actions that contribute to something I want.
